Welcome
You asked how to add and update things on the website without changing, deleting or undoing anything that is already finished. The short answer is to check before you save, because every Save goes live on the site about two minutes later. If a mistake does get through, you undo it by editing the words back and saving again. The videos below show the editor one area at a time, with the few habits that keep finished work safe. Start with the overview. It is under a minute long, and each chapter after it is a minute or two.
The overview
The chapters
Each chapter covers one job. Watch the one you need, when you need it.
-
Signing in
1 min 14 sOpen rhemawofi.org/admin, press Continue with Google and sign in with the Google account that has been given access. Once you are in you see the Journal, with Pages, Shows, Pictures and Settings along the top, and every Save you make goes live about two minutes later.
Rules for this chapter
- Look over what you changed before you press Save.
- To undo a mistake, edit the words back and save again.
- Press Sign out when you finish for the day.
-
Editing words on a page
1 min 44 sThe video opens Plan Your Visit, changes one sentence and presses Save and publish once. The note at the bottom counts down while the site rebuilds, and the change is live about two minutes later.
Rules for this chapter
- Leave words in double curly brackets, such as {{street}}, exactly as they are.
- Change one sentence at a time and press Save and publish once.
- If it takes longer than four minutes, your words are safe. Do not save again.
-
The home page
1 min 16 sThe home page is made of sections, and the video changes one heading in the Prayer section and saves only that section. It then points out the sections that carry service times: When we meet, Hero, Sunday morning and Come and see.
Rules for this chapter
- Change one line, then save that section.
- Change service times only when they really change, and check every line first.
- The street address comes from the curly bracket words and cannot be changed here.
-
Adding a post
1 min 30 sPress Write a post, give it a title, check the web address and write a description of at least 70 characters. The post starts as a draft, and when it is ready you untick Draft and press Save and publish.
Rules for this chapter
- Check the web address before the first save. After that it is locked.
- Keep Draft ticked while you work. A draft is not on the site.
- Write one sentence describing any picture you add.
-
Updating a show
1 min 17 sThe video opens Morning Glory, changes only the short description and presses Save and publish. Times use the 24 hour clock, so seven in the evening is 19:00.
Rules for this chapter
- Pressing Enter in any box saves and publishes at once, so finish your words first.
- This screen does not warn you when you leave, so save before you click away.
- Leave the Address box alone unless the show really moves.
-
Pictures
1 min 29 sUnder Pictures, press Replace on the picture you want, crop it or use the whole photograph, and press Upload. Then rewrite the Alt text and press Save and publish, because until you save the site still shows the old picture.
Rules for this chapter
- Replacing a picture is two steps: Upload, then Save and publish.
- Leave the list of uploaded pictures at the bottom alone. Its Delete button acts at once.
- A post keeps its own pictures in its Photographs window.
-
Staying safe
1 min 37 sThis chapter puts the rules in one place: one change at a time, Draft for anything not ready, and Settings left alone. It shows what to do when the editor says the page changed while you were writing, and how to check the live site after a save and correct anything yourself.
Rules for this chapter
- Press Cancel, never Keep mine and overwrite. Reload and make your change again.
- Never change the web address of a post that is already published.
- If anything looks wrong, stop, do not save, reload and start again.
The ten rules
- Every Save goes live about two minutes later. Check before you save.
- Change one thing, save it, check it on the site, then do the next.
- Read the preview before you press Save.
- Leave the {{ }} words and the "## 1." heading lines as they are.
- New posts stay as drafts until someone else has read them.
- Never change the web address of anything already on the site.
- To take a post down, tick Draft and save. Do not try to delete it.
- After Upload on a picture, press Save so the page uses it.
- Leave Settings alone, and never delete a picture that might be in use.
- If you see "changed while you were writing", press Cancel, reload, and make your change again. Never press Keep mine and overwrite.
Things to know about the editor
- A Save on a page, a home page part or a show publishes at once. Only posts have Draft.
- Opening a post that is already on the site can show "unsaved" before you have touched anything. If you did not change anything, do not press Save.
- In the Shows editor, pressing Enter in any box saves and publishes straight away. That screen also gives no warning if you leave with unsaved changes, so save before you click away.
- In the "changed while you were writing" message, the dark button that stands out is Keep mine and overwrite. That is the one not to press.
- At the bottom of Pictures, the Delete button under the list of uploaded photographs deletes at once, with no second question.
- Remove on a service times row, on an email line in Settings, or on a hero photograph acts in the editor without asking. Nothing is published until you press Save, so if you pressed Remove by mistake, reload the page without saving.
- A post's Description needs at least 70 characters, or the editor will not save it.
- A save that looks as if it failed may still have gone through. Reload the page and look before you try again.
- A post comes off the site when you tick Draft and save. There is no delete.

If something goes wrong
Stop, and do not press Save.
Reload the page. If it offers your unsaved changes back, press Discard, so the editor shows what is live now. Start your change again from there, slowly.
Two minutes after every save, open the page on rhemawofi.org and read it. If something is not right, correct it the same way: open it in the editor, fix the words, and save again.
If the bar at the bottom says your change has not appeared after four minutes, your words are still saved. Reload the live page a little later before you change anything else.
